Alcohol Bad Effects for Pregnancy

Alcohol beverage is one of top “enemies” for pregnant women. Besides bringing bad effect to the consumer as well as occurring with ordinary people, alcohol consumption also bring bad effect to the fetus that later even result fatal condition. According to such fact, alcohol consumption is highly forbidden for pregnant ladies regarding her and her fetus safety. Most people have understood, especially women, about the danger of consuming alcohol during pregnancy, but some may still be curious of how alcohol harms both mother and the unborn baby.

Easily we can say that when some pregnant woman drinks an alcoholic beverage actually the fetus also drinks it as well. Alcohol consumed by certain woman can easily passes through the placenta of “the living place” of the baby. This substance then affects the condition of the fetus. Alcohol which is kind of teratogen has big chance to cause birth defects. No wonder many times we find babies have disablement caused by the mother’s bad behavior in consuming alcoholic beverages too much.

Talking about alcohol and pregnancy means what problems may come to the pregnant lady who consumes alcohol too much. Problem of alcohol addiction for woman provides more consequences than for man. Woman who is pregnant furthermore can get worse risks of drinking alcoholic stuff even in moderate level. As mentioned before, the alcohol will directly go to the fetus place and in long term such substance will cause baby’s defect, moreover if such woman is kind of alcohol addict who cannot control her consumption of alcoholic stuff.

Excessive alcohol consumption will bring even worse condition for the unborn child, even may result such baby’s death. Commonly, there are two serious effects gotten by pregnant mother who consume alcohol either in moderate or in excessive amount. The first of certain bad effects known currently is FAS or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. This syndrome causes the reposition of most structures of the skeleton face and organs. Either in short or long term this condition can worsen the health of both mother and unborn child as most organs may encounter malfunction or cannot work effectively. Besides, FAS also provides bad effect to mental condition caused by poor motor skills, belated learning ability and the worsened central nervous system condition.

Second problem that comes through overconsumption of alcohol encountered by pregnant mother is Fetal Alcohol Effects. This condition divided into two other types which are known as Alcohol-Related Neurodevelopment or ARND and Alcohol-Related Birth Defects or ARBD. ARND associated with mental and learning ability. Some woman who suffers such condition will have worse ability in analyzing and memorizing, it is almost similar to the syndrome of aging where the motor skills is going down. Besides such woman will also have lower ability in controlling her mental and behavior.

Other condition is ARBD which is more to the physical matter caused by bad function of most organs and skeletal system due to the malformation of them. Commonly, pregnant women who really like to consume alcohol too much have great risk to get FAE, while FAS mostly seen in pregnant women who consume alcohol at moderate rate. These two conditions are what pregnant women will have if they cannot control their alcohol drinking behavior so consuming alcohol at any rate is forbidden for them.
